A List of “Thank you”

At times [read mostly] we shy away from saying a heart-felt, mind-felt thank you. Today I wish to say a few.

It’s always worth it to take a pause and acknowledge people who are doing more than expected, more than they are paid for, more than they have to, more than we can imagine — and that too, not in the times of their convenience. 2020 demanded it perhaps!

My absolute gratitude for healthcare workers who showed up. Those who showed up to do jobs that they never hoped/wished for. Thank you for risking so much to help us. Thank you for accepting vulnerability for yourself to provide living feasibility to us.

A big thank you for social workers, fund raisers and ration distributors out there. You are God’s way of helping us. You put state to shame. You put corporations to shame. You are magical. Thank you.

Thank you to all front-line warriors — bankers, petrol pump workers, delivery folks, plumbers, electricians, grocery workers, janitorial staff, all of them — for showing up.

Thank you to Zoom, Teams, WebEx, Skype and other platforms for being a great alternate. Surprisingly, these products helped us connect to friends and family members, we would have not connected otherwise.

Thank you to corporate leaders, entrepreneurs and other small business owners who took the plunge and did their best to ensure minimal hit on their frontlines. This will go a long way.

Thank you to every parent out there. You all were incredible — balancing between competing priorities and still being there for those who need you. You are superheroes.

Thank you, teachers. I know you were not hired to do all this — but hats off to your learning agility. I am amazed to see how you figured out how to be there, fully present, even on a video screen. You made it easy for us. Thank you.

Thank you to a new generation of digital media trainers, motivators, teachers. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for moving above and beyond imposture syndrome. You never know who you would have helped.

A special thank you to all my friends, followers and strangers who read my blogs, watched my videos and shared their perspectives. You made my efforts — worth it.

This is such a tiny fraction of the people I was hoping to acknowledge.

Share your list. Share it somewhere. It matters.
