Allegations are… Allegations after all!
Though it sounds simple, it’s not.
It hurts. Yes, it does.
But, feeling hurt is a choice. And there is another choice — to understand that allegations are allegations, not something that defines you or something for which you should sit on and build strategies of proving yourself innocent [until it has legal complications].
With the advent of social media, one thing has happened more exponentially than other… and that’s exponential decline in critical, reflective or in fact, any form of thinking.
Allegations thrive in such an environment — there you only have tongue to speak and ears to hear, with literally no interference from an extremely insignificant part… the brain.
Politicians win by putting more allegations.
Stars get more followings but putting more allegations.
BUT…
Can we do something about allegations?
Yes, we can… We can reflect on what, why and how… for a little while, but then here’s what’s important to do:
- See the nature of allegation. Evaluate yourself. Does any of your unintentional / innocent act is leading to this perception? Be mindful.
- See who is listening to it and assuming it to be true without having a word with you… If they call themselves your friend, you know they aren’t.
- If it’s not of a legal consequence, greet the allegation, and wave a goodbye. It’s not worth your time. And have faith in the times we live in. No one ultimately cares and remembers. Kill hundreds and thousands in Palestine — we change our Facebook DP, and then… new week, new DP. Do you really think they have time?
- Stay firm with your ethics and the way you are. Be kind, generous, gentle, and joyful. Don’t validate the allegations from your actions.
Enjoy your day.
Be joyful.
