Diverse Opinion Doesn’t Matter Much if…
Well, I know you would’ve expected something better from me… but let me make my point here.
Diverse opinions don’t matter much when we don’t have shared reality.
When a footballer uses his/her hand to stop the ball, it can’t be justified by saying that it’s his/her opinion. It’s not a useful response. Because football is defined by rules. If you want to start a new game with your rules, start engaging people, sell your idea and gung-ho!
A society, an organization or a family that talks about appreciating diverse opinion must do the necessary labor to understand shared reality… or shared meaning.
It’s the very foundation of trust, and helps us in moving forward, instead of hustling in the same circle.
