For the love of parents…

I normally write about parenting skills but today it’s about parents… in fact, for the love of parents.

Disclaimer: I have a reputation for being mostly logical. Today’s article may seem to be emotional — but it’s the finest logic I know.

Parents… God’s way of being with us!

Now I am not here for ‘be good’ and ‘be kind’ stuff. I am here to challenge you to the core.

If they make you walk slow, join them in their pace!

It’s not kindness…

It’s just a humble token of thanks for them for completely altering the pace of their lives to teach you how to walk and stand tall.

They may not be money-wise smart, treat it with empathy!

It’s not kindness…

It’s telling yourself in the mirror that your financial genius is a product of their financial compromises.

They may be interfering too much, deal with it smartly!

It’s not kindness…

It’s a little return of favor to them because they showed up every time you needed them.

They may be rude, deal with it politely!

It’s not kindness…

It’s the most reasonable act for someone who always prays for your success & wellbeing — without any self interest.

They may be harsh at times, negotiate with it properly!

It’s not kindness…

It’s the realization that time might have made them tough from their conduct but the heart still beats for you.

They may not be doing as you ask them to do, see what else can be done!

It’s not kindness…

It’s understanding that they have a life as well… and some emotions too.

They may not be open to try new things, keep things gradual!

It’s not kindness…

It’s accepting the fact that you’ll be approaching this zone soon.

They may be asking you too many questions, answer them with smile!

It’s not kindness…

It’s some pay back to them for listening and responding to your tears, your crazy questions, your unreasonable demands and what not.

They may be an obstacle in the way to your better future, rethink your future!

It’s not kindness…

It’s a gratitude to them for dedicating their future to build your past and present… and I don’t know what kind of future you are planning for— the success in life’s ultimate future is conditioned to how you treat them.

A lot of time, I’ve been asked: “Your parents live with you?” — and my response is simply “No” … with a joyful follow-up, “I live with them.

May we all live with them. May the oxygen of life stay with all of us.

Ameen!
