Friendship is powerful but…

Friendship is powerful but power isn’t why you make friends.

My daughter said this — while telling me about her favorite show, “My Little Pony”, and that got me stuck with an Awe!

How true is that? Friendship is powerful but power isn’t why you make friends.

This one statement completely destroys the perception of power that’s constructed around social media…

How many followers, how many likes, how many friends, how many shares, how many friend requests…BULLSHIT!

Friendship is powerful but power isn’t why you make friends.

WOW.

I think I will never be able to get over with it.

Friendship truly makes us powerful. Friendship is the best antidote of mental wellness concerns. Friendship makes you a better person. Friendship teaches you all important life skills — of sharing, compassion, hiding weaknesses of others, appreciating, laughing, crying, celebrating, complaining, dreaming, fighting…

BUT…

Friendship is dying. Friendship is missing. Friendship needs help.

Friendship that once made us powerful is not conditioned to power. And if power attracts friendship, it’s trade or ransom — not friendship.

I am on few WhatsApp groups of my school friends — and I am my best there. No judgement, no admiration. Pure friendship. Love, care, fun and respect.

Friendship is magic. It gives you power. But when friendship is your staircase to power — you are making a wrong choice. A choice that you will surely regret. A choice that will surely make you isolated.

I see so much work done for mental health. Friendship — true friendship, is the only way forward. Celebrate your child’s friends. Of course keep an eye — but let them celebrate friendship. Let them play. Let them fight. Let them sort out things.

This will make them a better person, and more powerful.

Thank you, Diya, (my daughter) for teaching such an important lesson.

You are my favorite — and you know it!

Keep watching and reading amazing stuff, and keep teaching me.
