Parenting Matters

Every day counts. The interactions we have at home have perhaps the most profound impact on who we become.

Yes — it matters. And so, parenting matters. It matters as it creates future mindset. It matters as it creates hope for future. It matters because it can nurture optimism.

School is an essential part of our society. Teachers are fundamental to our development. But the inputs and foundations that parents create are essential. As we move forward, the one thing that should never be outsourced is parenting.

Let’s get better at our jobs. Here are few thoughts to begin with:

Let’s figure out how to spend at least one hour a day, every day, without electronics, without any gadget… just you and your kids. Just being with them. Being present. Doing things with them, solving interesting problems, challenging, questioning, imagining, creating, listening.

There are 2 types of parents:

  1. Who are actually good at what they do [not perfect, but good]
  2. Who think they are good!

For the second type, you are amazing, and I am sure, you’d never come this far, reading this hopeless article, as you are perfect.

For the first type, this one-hour challenge is not going to be easy. It’s tough. It needs patience. It needs generosity. It needs commitment. It needs involvement. It needs empathy. But above all — it needs unconditional love!

Possible?

Let’s do it.
