Reasons for you to show-up!
Life is interesting. Work is challenging. Overcoming obstacles, facing rejection, being open to vulnerabilities, chartering in unknown territories… we all need a story to move forward… A reason to show-up tomorrow.
And the quality of the reason determines the quality of the work you do.
I tried to think of few most common reasons to show up. This is not a complete list, but simply a quick reflection.
- To be a better version of yourself
- To pursue a dream larger than you
- To pursue someone’s dream
- To avoid shame — so that you are not seen as a loser!
- To compete
- To solve a problem
- To be famous
- To be generous with your skills/gifts
- To satisfy your creative itch
- To earn living
- To respond to peer/family pressure
- To take revenge
- To stay busy
- To change the world
Some of them leave you exhausted and worn-out, some create an environment of hope, possibility and joy.
