But that doesn’t mean I am bound to give my attention to it.

Well — sounds rude. Let me explain.

Opinions are good. Feedback is essential. But then, where is it coming from?

I recently visited Kalamkar — a decent furniture store in Karachi. I loved the furniture and found many items out of my budget. That’s ok. But if now I tell Kalamkar people that you are too expensive and that no one will ever buy from you — he/she will simply wish me good luck.

If you are not a customer or someone, we’d like to do business with, have relations with or invest emotions in… we will ignore you. If you think Harry Potter is a hopeless novel — thank you. If you think Marvel is waste of time — thank you. If you think Shahrukh Khan is overrated — thank you. But… I am sure by now you know — it doesn’t matter.

When you walk up to an artist and tell her/him you don’t like her/his painting style or that it’s too expense — you should be ignored.

And by the way — I am deliberately harsh here. Why? Because if we’re going to do great work, different work, quality work, futuristic work… for sure some people aren’t going to like it. Now, if people who don’t like it are the ones who have literally no impact on how the work turns out… the best option for the artist is to IGNORE.

Remember — When you show up, you offer yourself for judgement. The alternate is to be invisible.
