The top 5 mistakes…
Oct 30, 2020
We all make mistakes. That’s ok. But then, few mistakes are costlier than others.
Here, I try to identify 5 mistakes… mistakes that can push you into a life of compromise, mediocrity and invisibility.
- Confusing “Doing my best” with “Doing what is possible”. These are 2 different things. Doing your best is lazy. It means that you are doing what’s comfortably possible or accessible. Doing what is possible is difficult, demanding and rewarding.
- Confusing “Earning Well” with “Doing something great”. I pity rich losers. We must always choose to do work that we are proud of. That’s what matters at the end.
- Ignoring the power of story while solely focusing on product / service / work. If your idea is not traveling… if people are not talking about it and you don’t care about it… Good luck.
- Taking every feedback seriously. Trust me, there are people who thought Harry Potter was a horrible idea and no one will ever buy it. So… don’t take polls and surveys. Your mother in law may not be the best advisor. Cover your downside, take risk and Nike…(just do it).
- Failing to Measure. Evaluate. Revisit. Reimagine. Change what is not working. Do it relentlessly.
I hope it helps!
